Joyless Jockers

Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
The Band was formed in 2006-07 from an idea of Thomas and Rudy. In the beginning we played covers and then we tried to do something heavier! Through the years there have been some changes in the line-up: first Jader joined the band, then followed Michele e Matteo to complete the line up. We focused our attention in particular on Death Metal. During 2008-2009  we composed many songs in "Swedish Style”. This first work is present on our first EP Arms of Darkness. In the following years we tried to do something more aggressive and we swapped our guitars with 2 seven strings. We needed to find our own style and try to compose new songs which were more technical, more structured and of course much faster! After about a year we put our hard work into Taste of Victory. This album contains all our history in terms of style, influences and we are really proud of it. During the last two years we have focused on playing lives as much as possible. In the last month we have begun to collaborate with Music Solutions Agency and with Gold Music Srl. and now…?!? We want you to Headbang at our Live Shows!

How would you describe your style? Which bands influenced your music?
Our style is… I thinks it’s too easy to say that it is a mix of different influences.. that is guaranteed.. So I’ll tell you my thoughts.. I think our style is the unique way to express our different points of view in terms of music.. In our songs you can find killer riffs next to melodic and instrumental parts all dressed up with the presence of a strange instrument for this genre.. the keyboard.. Jader with his arsenal of sounds and effects creates that particular atmosphere that we want to hear.. I think he gives us an extra boost compared to other bands. And about our influences.. well I could make a list which would have you here until tomorrow.. but the main influences are Carcass, In Flames, Arch Enemy, Children of Bodom, Decapitated, Divine Heresy, Meshuggah, Machine Head, Lamb of God and the list continues to grow..

Why should a metalhead buy your demos/albums?
This is the 1 billion dollar question..  Well I tell you that on our Cd’s you can hear our own music.. our own style.. Of course you will say.., but I think that the main purpose for a band is to create your own unique style and try to differentiate yourself from the other 10 billion bands that are doing the same thing.. I think that we have achieved our purpose.. At least in part, because it’s still "work in progress”.. Obviously our influences are clearly visible..  but if you listen to us you will find something different..

What have you released so far and how were your releases received by the public/media?
In 2010 we finished our first work Arms of Darkness. This Ep was a good start for us and it was also well received by webzines and fans, but the main critique that we received was that we had to differentiate ourselves from our influences and develop our own style. We tried something different in terms of composition, sounds, effects and after a year of hard work and many hours passed in one room, we recorded our last work Taste of Victory. This time the media and our public were really proud of it. We received a lot of very good reviews in particular from webzines that had criticised us with Arms of Darkness. And we’ll try to do better in the future!!

Do you play live as well? How's your live activity so far?
Since our first appearance with the complete line up we try to play live as much as possible. During  the last few years we have played in many places and at many festivals throughout Italy sharing the stage with great bands from the Italian underground and other more famous bands.

What sould labels/zines/promoters know about your band? Why should they be interested in it?
Well we are a young metal band with a lot of Energy and we try to share it! In particular during our Live shows. It’s really important for us to share with the public/fans our passion for this music! And I thinks that is clear also in our work, in particular on Taste of Victory! This album is really aggressive.. So I hope you listen to it!

What plans do you have for the near future as a band?
Well we will continue to compose other Killer songs, and we plan to make a Music Video.. as far as our Live  shows, we’ll try to move in other countries like Germany, Austria and Slovenia to share our music with as many people as possible..

Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?
You can listen our songs on our Youtube Channel. Also on Facebook there’s a section with some songs. Our merchandise continues grow so you can contact us if you are interested. You can find new posts every week on Facebook about new stuff from the band. So visit our page and we hope you’ll enjoy!
Finally we want to thank you for this interview and we hope you’ll enjoy our music!
Horns up \w/
