Genre: Speed/Thrash Metal

Biography:
“The Meatfückers formed at the end of 2005-early 2006 in Guadaljara, Jalisco Mexico, with the main purpose of doing something different (both visually and musically) to what was happening on the local metal scene. For several years Rev. Damage (Bass) and Iracundo (Guitar) had wanted to create a sadomasochistic band adding a theatrical show (influenced by the live shows seen on video that had a great impact on them like Venom, Lizzy Borden’s metal murderer road show) and of course which created the best songs possible focusing on thrash metal with hooks and as a final ingredient: sexual/pornographic song lyrics.

The first incarnation of the band was a 5 piece featuring Rev. Dañado on Bass, Iracundo on Rhythm Guitar, Hereje Romántico on drums Aparecido ”Whore caller on Lead Guitars” and el Viejo Cochino on vocals. After just a few weeks the lead guitar player left the band missing the band's debut show in 2007 opening for Cannibal Corpse. Following the debut show, Aparecido re-joined the band which then set out to write and record its first album. Whilst the band were writing for the first album, they released a DVD of the first live show entitled “Porn to be Wild”. In November 2007 the band entered the studio to record the self-produced debut album “Gang Bang from Hell”. Shortly after recording the album, the band released a limited edition CD single entitled “Sex Overlords” with the song “Pornorama” and which also contained a cover of Motley Crue's “Looks that Kill” In 2010 the band secured a distribution deal with the Mexican label Asenath Records and “Gang Bang from Hell” was released in November 2011.
Since their first show the band have had considerable live experience opening for bands such as CRYPTOPSY, DIVINE HERESY, INSIDIOUS DISCREPANCY, IMPIETY and AGENT STEEL as well as sharing the stage with numerous Mexican bands”

Intro – Dead by Cumshots!
Opening with rather a lot of atmospherics and an evil chant it then bursts into life with a gargling type of vocal associated with the black metal genre, and although musically it soars the heights it does not really spark anything exciting.

Childsodomy
This track has a lot more ‘edge’ than the previous one and yet again possesses a low guttural growling vocal that sadly uses its existing tools to create a somewhat repetitive track which is a shame.

Hookers Parade
This track has a very different stance musically and not riding along its black metal vein but using a thrash tempo, surprisingly enough to low tuned growls which works quite well and gives the track a definite peak above the previous two.

Teens for Cash
This sounds quite Sabbath orientated and who can’t resist a Sabbath riff? Although I would be surprised if Ozzy could ever sing that low! But I really appreciate that beat with its heavy persistent bass and screaming guitar be it only brief.

Satanic Bitch
As you would expect the apple does not fall far from the tree andThe Meatfückers have returned to their comfort zone of black metal orientation however the thrash elements contained within its structure are really uplifting on this track.

Euroslut
Some nice deep penetrating bass with provocative riffs are a most welcome sound as this track really explodes with a good surge of energy and holds a lot of brooding passion within an accelerated force.

Wanted – Wife for Rent
Unusual title and also an unusual track once again possessing thrashy black elements together which seems to work quite well as mentioned previously. Consisting of a thumping rhythm and low gargling growls to a high octane build-up of sonic riffs that then fade into obscurity it is a good wholesome track.

Pornorama
Another interesting title for a track. The guitar here is just stunning and the first time on the album that the guitar has shone. Quite atmospheric and combined with an impressive array of percussion be it done by machine.

To Sum up:
There is certainly no shortage of bands out there who will shock you not only with their unusual blend of music but on looks too. The Meatfückers have certainly gone out of their way to bring to the fore some BDSM elements into the mix that seems to fit in well into their blend of speed/thrash metal, wearing masks and studs, but have not brought anything new to the scene by doing so, however, not a lot of bands make the effort these days so can’t knock the ones who do! But none the less they will still impress you with their explicit lyrics, stark Satanic, sexual references and BDSM influencing their imaginations, trapped within their chaotic intent and clearly shown on the cover of their album Gang Bang from Hell a reversed pentagram, which we all know to be the sign of Satan.

Their cleverly thought up titles as well as band name will no doubt raise an eyebrow or two and will no doubt provoke a bit of interest along the way to see what they are all about.

However, the band have captured a lot of genres within their album touching on death metal, speed metal and thrash but mainly black and mixed it into their tracks which give the listener a lot to focus on and so it is never truly dull. The low growls are stunning as they are menacing and musically cages a rampant tendency that borders a prowling intensity – one cannot simply ignore this fact and therefore, all things considered deserve a listen at least, and no doubt will churn up a few more likes to their ever growing fan base.

8½/10

Taste of Victory (Full Length / Self-Released) – 2012

Genre: Melodic Death Metal

Biography:
Formed in 2006 in Vicenza, Italy, this band of mainly three brother’s Thomas, Rudy and Jader (although Jader was the last of the brother’s to join) started off playing rock/hard rock and with the usual changes in line-ups found Tom changing from bass to vocals as Tom’s vocal chords were more suited to screaming, so their sound changed dramatically to Melodic Death Metal. This worked well as the band wanted to move on with their new sound, playing more powerful tracks.

In order to fully perfect their sound the band decided to recruit another member and 2 years later, this is where Jader entered the band with his keyboards. Still not happy with the way their sound was going the band then decided to add another member on guitar and so on the 24th December 2008 Michele joined theJoyless Jokers line-up.

There was a bit more upset in the band during September 2010 when it was realised that their drummer was not totally happy with their sound and decided to leave – but predictability seems to be totally unheard of in music, so after a few months in stepped Matteo and this now completed the line-up for Joyless Jokers who then set to work to record their debut EP ‘Arms of Darkness’ after a year of intensive gigging during 2010.

The band gelled together completely and were excited about the prospect of writing more songs and attending many concerts, so much so, that they found they had enough tracks to produce a second album called ‘Taste of Victory’ and are now working on a third album – their story continues...

Rain
This track does have an impact on the aural as it launches into an impressing barrage of sound and unleashes a very potent, toxic venom and possesses a superb melodic stance.

Murder in Me
This track goes on the rampage and causes a lot of chaos within its incendiary of powerful rhythms and towering riffs. The keyboards really come into their own here and add that exciting spice to the proceedings.

Scream
Another rapacious track with delicious vocal onslaught and a tiny choppy keyboard rhythm that is backed up by a forceful drum beat and impacting riffs. It is one riveting listen and very inventive with a flurry of strings that climb the scales unmercifully.

Point of No Return
Plundering the ears this holds a deep dark and savage rhythm that is deliciously ‘bedlamic’ and literally explodes with more than just a forceful slap.  The infectious riffs and crazy keyboard add mesmeric qualities to a very provoking track.

The Joyless Jokers - and not a smile between them!

Whispers to Shadows
Another superb onslaught can be had here as it races to its climax. Building rhythms amid a torrent of passionate growls it does anything but ‘cradle’ the ears and simply buries them in a fury of unbridled grooves that break the sound barrier.

Hopeless
The squeak in the guitar riffs gives us an insight into what lies ahead – more battering grooves, torturous rhythms, forceful drumming, strong bass, mesmeric keyboard and scathing vocal. The mere hint of a melody adding that something special to a total brutal rampage is nothing less than sensational!

I’ll watch you Die
Judging by the sounds of this track, dying is something you don’t want to do as the Joyless Jokers epidemic hits with urgency! A towering inferno of caustic rhythms held together with a vibrant keyboard full on melodic prowess and hard bass hooks, it will simply hypnotise as you succumb to its overwhelming intimidation.

Taste of Victory
The title track is hard edged with a deep resonating feel that is, as you would expect, very abrasive and feeds hungrily on the aural senses. It embraces, but with a punishing fist of malevolence.

To Sum up:
A very highly charged album that strikes unmercifully amid strong melodic keyboards that sit between rapacious riffs and harsh vocal savagery which is eased along superbly with ravenous drum beats and hard bass hooks that in turn blend into a very compelling listen - making it impossible to ignore.

Vocally exciting, Tom’s ability to growl whilst still being comprehensible is an art, although I do love the pig squeals and grunts, but with melodic death metal I think it would take away from its grandeur.

Joyless Jokers have indeed got the balance right here and produced eight excellent tracks that are embracing, extremely melodic and with more than just a few dashes of brutal savagery! Undeniably, snarling, devious and yet has its lingering moments – Now who could ask for more?

10/10
