CD-Review: The Meatfückers "Gangbang From Hell"

Ich bin immer wieder überrascht wie sehr manchmal doch musikalische Qualität und Auftreten einer Band auseinander gehen können. Denn bei einer Band mit Namen THE MEATFÜCKERS deren Album auch noch "Gangbang From Hell" heißt erwarte ich eigentlich nicht sehr viel. Vor allem wenn sie auf ihren Bandfotos auch noch aussieht wie eine Horde Sexsklaven ist die Irritation perfekt.

Allerdings muss ich zugeben, dass musikalisch sehr ernsthaft zur Sache gegangen wird. Auch wenn es man vermuten möchte, erwartet den Hörer auf diesem Longplayer kein Uffta-Grind der Marke SPASM sondern solider und gut gemacht (Black) Death Metal mit einer ordentlichen Portion Rumpel-Thrash versetzt. Sogar Rock'n'Roll-Anleihen blitzen teilweise durch, während die Songtitel und Texte eine ganz klare Marschrichtung aufweisen. Es geht um Sodomie, sehr viele Huren und satanische Schlampen. 'Wanted: Wife For Rent' ist da fast noch der anständigste Lied-Name auf der Track List. Stimmlich verlässt sich Fronter Rex Lucifer vornehmlich auf seine düsteren Growls, aber zeigt in 'Hookers´ Parade' auch seine Screaming-Qualitäten, was dem Lied teilweise einen interessanten Black-Thrash-Charakter verleiht.

Die Mexikaner schreiben im Waschzettel übrigens, dass sie sich sowohl musikalisch als auch optisch von der lokalen Szene ihrer Heimat abheben wollten als sie die Band gegründet haben. Beides dürften sie mit THE MEATFÜCKERS verwirklicht haben, denn sowohl das schrullige Auftreten als auch die rockigen Death'n'Roll-Riffs hört man in dieser Art und Weise nicht so häufig. Würde man mich fragen welche Bands hier als Einfluss gedient haben, würde ich es am als Mischung aus DESTRÖYER 666, DEAD und DESASTER beschreiben, wobei auch diese Inspirationen dem Mix der Mittelamerikaner nur bedingt gerecht werden. THE MEATFÜCKERS wollen auffallen und das werden sie mit "Gangbang From Hell" auch ganz sicher schaffen, sofern sich die meisten potenziellen Fans nicht von dem obskuren

CD-Review: Joyless Jokers "Taste Of Victory"

Normalerweise bin ich nicht der größte Melo-Death-Fan unter der Sonne aber bei so einem Brett wie es die JOYLESS JOKERSabgeliefert haben, mache ich liebend gerne eine Ausnahme! "Taste Of Victory" ist die beste Verbindung von Göteborg-Elementen und brachialem Extreme Metal seit dem letzten Album der Skandinavier  von EVOCATION.

Ich nehme durch diesen Einstieg zwar schon eine Menge vorweg, aber ich kann

diese Platte einfach nicht genug loben. Alles greift hier wunderbar ineinander und ergibt eine logische Einheit. Die singenden Gitarrenläufe werden wunderbar von dezenten Keyboard-Salven flankiert, die dem Ganzen einen leicht industriellen Anstrich verleihen. Besonders schön ist das im zweiten Track 'Murder In Me" gelungen, dessen Melodie sich sehr schnell im Gehörgang festsetzt und der ein heftiges Ohrwurmpotenzial hat. Die italienische Truppe schafft es eindrucksvoll die melodische Konkurrenz  aus dem hohen Norden an die Wand zu spielen und bringt mit Liedern wie 'I'll Watch You Die' die alten Zeiten zurück als AT THE GATES noch Ton angebend waren und IN FLAMES noch Musik gespielt haben, die das Suffix "Death Metal" verdient hatte.

Besonders gut gefällt mir die grollende und schreiende Stimme von Vokalist Thomas. Er setzt nämlich auf einen sehr traditionellen Growl-Stil, der sich zum Glück nicht an diesen Brüllaffen-Shouts moderner Metal-Frontmänner orientiert.

Natürlich ist nicht zu überhören, dass in Songs wie 'Ponit Of No Return' moderne Death-Metal-Vertreter wie ILLDISPOSED oder SCAR SYMMETRY ihre Duftmarke hinterlassen haben, aber es ist schon beeindruckend wie geschickt sie diese Elemente arrangiert haben, ohne dass die durchschlagende Power der Tracks in Mitleidenschaft gezogen wird.

Negativ finde ich an der Band an und für sich nichts, außer vielleicht dem Namen. JOYLESS JOKERS klingt nämlich mehr nach einer rotzigen Hardrock-Band als nach Melodic Death Metal. Ansonsten hält sich die Kritik aber in Grenzen. Die Südeuropäer legen mit "Taste Of Victory" ein fettes Debüt vor, das in seinem Subgenre sicherlich zu den Top-10-Alben des Jahres gehören würde (wenn es nicht bereits seit 2012 draußen wäre). Reinhören lohnt sich!

The Meatfuckers/Gangbang from Hell/Music Solutions Agency/2012 CD Review

  The  Meatfuckers  are  a  band  from  Mexico  that  plays  a  very  old  school  hybrid  of  black,  death  and  thrash  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2012  album  "Gangbang  From  Hell"  which  was  released  by  Music  Solutions  Agency.

  "Intro-Dead  By  Cumshots"  starts  off  with  sound  effects  and  spoken  word   demonic    chanting  before  the  drums  and  old  school  black/thrash  riffs  kick  in  along  with  a  growl  before  going  into  grim  sounding  black  metal  screams  while  retaining  the  death  metal  growls  and  the  song retains  a mid  paced  feeling  till  the  end  while  the  drums  do  speed  up  at  times  and  the  song  closes  with  the  sound  effects.

  "Child  Sodomy"  starts  off  with  a  heavy  before  riff  being  the  drums  and  death  growls  and  black  metal  screams  make  their  way  in  before  speeding  up  with  powerful  bass  lines,  fast  guitar  riffs  and  blast  beats  for  awhile  before  returning  to  the  mid  paced  sections  with  a  powerful  old  school  black/death/thrash  sound  and  also  switching  back  and  forth  to  the  fast  and  mid  paced    parts.

  "Hookers  Parade"  starts  off  with  old  school  black/thrash  riffing,  powerful  bass  lines,  blast  beats  and  growls  while  also  utilizing  some  melody  before  the  black/thrash  screams  kick  in  and  the  song  switches  back  and forth  between  the  fast  and  mid  paced  parts.

  "Teens  For  Cash"  starts  off  with  some  primitive  old  school riffing  which  sets  up  the  pace  for  the  bass,  drums,  growls  and  screams  before  heading  into  a  more  old  school  direction  and  as  the  song  moves  in  guitar  leads  make  their  presence  known  with  distorted  effects.

  "Satanic  Bitch"  starts  off  with  blast  beats,  powerful  bass,  and  fast  old  school  black  metal  riffing  which  sets  up  the  pace  for  the  screams  while  also  mixing  in  mid  paced  sections  and  growls  as  well  as  going  back  into  the  faster  elements  at  times.

  "Eoroslut"  starts  off  with  a  powerful  bass  line,  before  the  drums,  guitars  and  screams  kick  in  along  with  the  song  going  more  into  a  mid  paced  direction  and  as  the  songs  moves  on  the  screams  start  kicking  in  along  with some  catchy  chorus  and  riffing,  after  awhile  an  old  school  thrash  metal  guitar  solos  makes  its  way  into  on  combining  with  the  rhythm  sections  and  vocals  with  the  song  ending  shortly  after that.

  "Wanted_Wife  For  Rent"  starts  off  with  powerful  drumming,  old  school  melodic  black/thrash  riffing,  screams   and  growls  before  going  into  a  heavy  mid  paced  direction  and  as  the  song  moves  on  the  riffing  gets  more  diverse  as  well  as  as  the  bass  playing  getting  more  powerful  which  leads  to  faster  parts  and  blast  beats  towards  the  end.


  "Pornorama"  starts  off  with  old  school  metal  guitars,  powerful  drums  along  with  some  melody  in  the  riffing  which  sets  up  the  pace  for  a  guitar  solo  which  leads  to  the  black  death  growls,  screams,  faster  guitars  and  drums,  as  the  song  moves  on  it  goes  into  a  more  mid  paced  direction  while  also  switching  back  to  the  fast  parts  at  times.

  Lyrics  on  the  album  cover  porn,  perverted  and  satanic  themes,  while  the  production  has  a  very  heavy  and  old  school  sound  where  you  can  still  hear  all  of  the  musical  instruments  that  are  present  on  this  recording.

  In  my  opinion  The  Meatfuckers  are  a  very  great  sounding  hybrid  of  black,  death  and  thrash  metal  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Hookers  Parade"   "Satanic  Bitch"  and  "Pornorama".  RECOMMENDED  BUY.

Dark Season

 

Well then, here is a ripping thrash band to start off your day! A group who are unabashedly heavy and with every song storm closer to heavy metal nirvana Dark Season have been doing there think since 2002. And I must say, after 11 years of playing these guys have got quite the sound together. Since 2011 the groups line up has finally stabilized and it seems like they will really be able to get going soon. Fortunately the rest of their sound is sufficiently polished that these guys have their own unique approach to extreme metal. In their music there are tastes of thrash, death and even Venom-tinged black metal. Filled with flashy solos and heavy riffs that often emphasize melody their is a lot to latch on to with Dark Seasons music, be you a modern metal enthusiast or a thrash purist. In conclusion, this is one of the most exciting and explosive bands that I have heard coming out of Italy in a while, the future should be bright for these Bolzano natives.
